Welcome back to another edition of The Governor’s 3 Under 3, where Governor Sean Mueller, will take just three minutes to highlight three important updates for our incredible community. Let’s dive right in!
1. Optimist Junior Golf Scholarship Competition – Calling All Optimist Clubs!
The Optimist Junior Golf Scholarship Competition is returning to Forest Akers Golf Course on the Michigan State University campus from June 16-17. This is an amazing opportunity for young golfers, and we need YOUR help to make it even bigger!
We are calling on all Optimist clubs to host local qualifying tournaments to help identify top young golfers. But here’s the best part: For every dollar raised through club, corporate, or personal donations, the Michigan District will match it dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,000! This means that your support will have double the impact, helping create even more opportunities for the next generation of golfers.
If you’re ready to contribute, donations can be made in two easy ways:
- By check: Make it out to Michigan District Optimists with “Junior Golf” in the memo and mail it to the District Treasurer.

2. New Optimist Merch – Time to Show Off Your Optimism!
It’s time to freshen up your Optimist gear! Optimist International has teamed up with a new supplier for the U.S. and the Caribbean, offering some fantastic new products. Whether you’re looking for stylish apparel or accessories, there’s something for everyone to showcase your Optimism!
Head over to the Optimist store and grab some awesome new merch today! And don’t forget—new products will be added regularly, so be sure to check back often and keep your collection up to date.

3. Winter District Gathering – Register Now!
The Winter District Gathering is just around the corner, and registration is now open! This exciting event will take place on Saturday, February 8, starting at 9 AM via Zoom. We’ll be focusing on the second part of our mission: “Optimists Bring Out the Best in Our COMMUNITIES.”
Join us for an engaging discussion on how we, as Optimists, can continue making a positive and lasting impact in our local communities. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and share ideas with fellow Optimists, so make sure to mark your calendars and register today!
