April is here, and with it comes an exciting opportunity to shine a spotlight on the spirit of service that fuels our mission. This month marks Global Volunteer Month, and from April 20–26, we observe National Volunteer Week — so mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate all the ways Optimists make a difference!
These annual observances are more than just dates on a calendar — they are a call to action and a time to honor the incredible impact volunteers have on their communities. For Optimist Clubs and members everywhere, it’s a special time to recommit to the values of hope, positive action, and service that define who we are.
Double Down on Optimism
As Optimists, we believe in bringing out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves. Global Volunteer Month is the perfect chance to double down on that belief — to roll up our sleeves, lend a helping hand, and show the world what service with a smile looks like.
Here’s How You Can Make a Difference:
1. Get Involved:
Whether it’s through your local Club’s planned service projects or by finding individual volunteer opportunities that support youth and strengthen your neighborhood, your time and energy matter. Every act of service — big or small — creates a ripple effect of positivity.
2. Share Your Optimism:
As you’re out making an impact, remember that your actions speak volumes. Share what you’re doing and why. Talk to your neighbors, friends, and coworkers about the good your Club does. Your optimism is contagious — let it spread! When sharing on social media make sure to use the hashtags: #nationalvolunteerweek, #optimistinternational, #Bringingoutthebest
3. Invite Others to Join You:
Volunteering is one of the best ways to introduce people to the Optimist mission. Share stories of impact. Bring a friend to a project or Club meeting. Invite others to be part of something bigger. When people see Optimism in action, they’re inspired to be part of it.
