The Michigan District is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Optimist International District Essay Contest, a long-standing tradition that gives youth a platform to express themselves, share their ideas, and build confidence through the written word.
This year, an impressive 276 essays were submitted at the club level, reflecting the creativity, thoughtfulness, and dedication of students across the state. After a thorough review process, the top three essays have been selected, and we are thrilled to recognize the outstanding young writers behind them.
🏆 1st Place: Rebecca Berry
Plymouth-Canton Optimist Club
🥈 2nd Place: Allison Goodrich

The winners will be formally recognized and presented with their awards at the upcoming Spring District Gathering on May 17 at Saginaw Valley State University. It promises to be a meaningful celebration of youth achievement and community spirit.

Together, we continue to inspire the next generation to dream big, think boldly, and write with purpose.
