The First Quarter Michigan District Conference at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bay City November 5-6, 2021, promises to be an informative event with great fellowship among Michigan Optimists. The Michigan District will have the honor of hosting the Northeast Great Lakes Region Optimist International Vice President Sue Armstrong and her husband, Rick, from Ohio. If the U.S./Canadian border is open prior to the conference, the district will also have the honor of hosting the Optimist International President-Elect Bob McFadyen and his wife, Penny. They are from Kitchener, Ontario.

The conference needs to conclude by 2:45 pm to allow setup for a wedding that will be using the same space later that afternoon. However,…after the conference is when the fun and excitement will really get started.

An Amazing Race (road rally/scavenger hunt) competition has been planned for the Downtown and Uptown areas of Bay City. This will start at approximately 3:00 P.M. (exact time will be determined based on when the conference finishes). After this fun activity (which will last about 2 hours), dinner will be at Uptown Grill with entertainment provided by a local student. This student is very well known in the Bay City area and his entertainment is always a big hit and well received by everyone. He plays the keyboard, sings, and does an amazing job!

Uptown Grill is closed in the evenings so only Optimists will be inside the establishment. There will be a pasta buffet, including pizza and non-alcoholic beverages. Because the restaurant is closed, you may bring your own alcoholic beverages. Cost of the dinner and entertainment is $25 per person.

Please join us in Bay City for an exciting and fun filled conference and stay to participate in the Amazing Race competition. It promises to be a great fellowship event.
