Remember the excitement that you felt as a kid – pulling into the drive- in movie, or the Dairy Queen, or the parking lot of Cedar Point or even McDonalds? The anticipation of something good was in your immediate future and you were ready! As Optimists, we too are READY to emerge from our Covid Hibernation, out into the sunshine and back into the prospect of creating something good for the children. Clubs have been RESILIENT and have been HAPPY to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Optimists have been regrouping, rethinking, replanning and repurposing what they will be actively doing when they can once again meet and demonstrate Optimism!
The advent of Spring in Michigan brings about all kinds of good emotions. Maybe for you it is saying goodbye to the snow shovel and hello to being outside – the feeling of fresh air in my lungs always puts a spring in my step! For Optimist clubs that have been in hibernation, it is a time to RALLY for the children and for the continuity of the great programs that the Club can provide to them. It is up to you to decide what that looks like and when your club will aspire to get up and running, if they have not already done so.
The Michigan District is always working behind the scenes to help clubs succeed – we have many committees on standby, should you need assistance as you get ready to RALLY for the children. We are at the “halfway point” right now and should take advantage of the available resources that will help strengthen and create energy for your club. Perhaps a “Reorganization Zoom” is in order to reenergize your club. You just have to let us know what you need and how we can help you! Be sure to check the Michigan District website often to see updates on incentives, International news and District training dates and meetings. There is something there for all of you and I look forward to seeing your face soon, on the Horizon, in a Zoom or maybe even in person! Let’s RALLY for the children and make our Optimism come true!
