Topic: Stomping Out Mental Health Stigmas with Resilience and Diversity of Mind

This event will feature R.E.A.L. (Respectful, Engaging, Actionable, Lasting) Talk, hosted by Trish Wyatt, LMSW. The discussion will include:
- Conversations with students and parents/guardians.
- Insights from the Southfield Police Department, including Lieutenant Teresa Young and Officer Brandon Walker, focusing on Triggers.
- Perspectives from Dr. Theadia Carey and Dr. Dayne Sherrell on Symptoms and Stigmas.
- Licensed Clinical Professionals discussing Diagnosis.
- Accredited Trainers providing Quality Problem-Solving Tools to help level stress.

Youth Essay Contest: Share Your Voice!
As part of the forum, the Optimist Club of Southfield-Lathrup Village is sponsoring an essay contest for 6th–12th-grade students who live, attend school, or are involved in a youth mentoring program in Southfield or Lathrup Village.
Essay Guidelines:
- 500-600 words
- Cover 2-4 of the following topics:
- How do you find positive joy each day?
- What are some ways you take care of your mind and body each day?
- What mental health stigmas do you see perpetuated on social media, and how would you combat them?
- What advice would you give adults about supporting young people in their mental health wellness?
