The Governor’s 3 Under 3 – June 10, 2025

by | Jun 10, 2025 | District News

Hello, my fellow Michigan Optimists, and welcome back to another edition of The Governor’s 3 Under 3—where Governor Sean Mueller will share three important updates in under three minutes. Let’s dive right in!

🕊️ Honoring Our Members: In Memoriam

As we prepare for the Summer Summit, we take a heartfelt pause to honor the lives and contributions of the beloved Optimist members we’ve lost since August 1, 2024. These individuals were more than just members—they were mentors, leaders, and cherished friends who embodied the Optimist spirit in every way.

To ensure we create a meaningful and respectful remembrance service, Past Governor Pam Batcho is gathering names, photos, and stories from clubs across the district.

If your club has experienced the loss of a member during this time, please help us honor their legacy by submitting the following information by July 1, 2025:

  • Full name and nickname (if applicable)
  • Club(s) they belonged to
  • Dates of membership
  • A photo (preferably from a club event)
  • What they contributed to or loved most about your club
  • Any details about their profession, hobbies, or passions

Please send all submissions to Past Governor Pam Batcho at pmbatcho@gmail.com.

Together, we can celebrate who they were and how they touched our lives through Optimism.

🏅 Club Officer-Elect Training Now Open

A quick but crucial reminder for all incoming club leaders: Officer-Elect Training for the 2025–2026 Optimist year is now live on the Optimist Institute!

This required training is for:

  • Club Presidents
  • Secretaries
  • Treasurers
  • Club Foundation Representatives

Please complete your training before October 1, 2025, to ensure you’re fully equipped to lead your club with confidence and success.

Also, be sure to renew your Optimist Institute subscription if needed. Sign-up and renewal instructions can be found on the Michigan District website.

Let’s start the new year strong—thank you for your continued leadership and commitment to our mission!

📜 District Policy Changes – Review & Discuss

At the Spring District Gathering, the Governance Sub-Committee introduced proposed updates to our District Policies. These proposed changes are now available for all members to review on the Michigan District website.

Your voice matters, and we invite you to participate in a District Policy Discussion on
🗓 July 23 at 7 PM (via Zoom)

This session is a valuable opportunity to ask questions and share feedback before the final vote.

📌 Reminder: Club delegates will vote on these policy changes during the Summer Summit in August, so it’s essential to stay informed and involved.

The Zoom link and additional resources will be posted soon on the district website. Thank you for being part of the process and helping shape the future of our district.
