The Optimist Club of Southfield-Lathrup Village and several organizations and individuals joined together on March 27, 2024 at the Radisson Southfield/Detroit Hotel to make no-sew fleece comfort blankets for new donor families as they grieve the loss of their loved one who has given the gift of life to another.

The comfort blanket program has grown over the years to not only increase the number of comfort blankets available through MDFC’s but to also bring the message of donation to the community and allow them to extend comfort to new donor families. Since 2019 over 1700 blankets have been created and the program has expanded to Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Flint, Highland, Ypsilanti and Pontiac.
