The Michigan District of Optimist International is proud to announce that 2025–2026 Michigan District JOI Governor Vaibhav Dhiman was elected International Junior Optimist International President for 2026–2027 at the 2026 International JOI Summit in St. Louis.
Vaibhav is a member of the North Farmington High School Jr. Optimist Club and has already demonstrated outstanding leadership through his service to Junior Optimist International and the Michigan District.
We believe Vaibhav is the first International JOI President from the Michigan District, making this an especially proud moment for Junior Optimists, Optimist Clubs, advisors, families, and supporters throughout Michigan.
Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow
Vaibhav’s election is a wonderful example of what Junior Optimist International can mean in the lives of young people.
JOI gives youth opportunities to serve their schools and communities while developing skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, organization, and decision-making. Through service projects, club leadership, District activities, and international involvement, young people are given opportunities to step forward, accept responsibility, and discover what they are capable of accomplishing.
The young people serving in our Junior Optimist Clubs today are the community, business, civic, and service leaders of tomorrow.
Adult Optimist Clubs play an important role in that development by sponsoring JOI Clubs, mentoring young members, encouraging their ideas, and giving them opportunities to lead. Vaibhav’s journey from a local Junior Optimist Club in Michigan to the presidency of Junior Optimist International demonstrates just how far those opportunities can lead.
The entire Michigan District congratulates Vaibhav Dhiman on this tremendous achievement. We are incredibly proud to have him representing Michigan on the international stage and look forward to seeing the leadership, enthusiasm, and Optimism he brings to Junior Optimist International during the 2026–2027 year.
