When was the last time your Club conducted a “Game Changer” project? Before you answer, let me provide a definition that is offered by a Foundation that is looking for youth directed projects. “Game changing” is defined as events or ideas that affect a significant shift in the current way of doing or thinking about something. Social innovation is defined as a unique solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable or just than existing solutions and benefits many.
One of your fellow Junior Optimist Clubs, Karambi JOI, submitted their application to the McGinnity Family Foundation for a true “game changing” project for their community in Uganda, a mere 9,000+ miles away from the Foundation . . . .
