On this episode of The Governor’s 3 Under 3, as we move into the new year, there are some important updates that all Optimist clubs should be aware of. From essay contest deadlines to membership packet changes, and an exciting international convention coming up, hereโs what you need to know:
District Essay Contest Winner Submission Deadline
The District Essay Contest is quickly approaching, and this is a reminder for all clubs to submit their first-place essay winners to the District Essay Chair by February 28. Donโt miss this opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of young students in your community. Along with the winning essay, clubs must also submit the entry fee to complete the process.
The submission page can be found on the District’s Store Page. Be sure to submit your entries on time so these bright young minds can receive the recognition they deserve!
New Membership Packet Process
In other important news, Optimist International has rolled out a new process for sending membership packets electronically. When a new member is added to your club, they will automatically receive a โWelcome New Member Magazineโ via email. This magazine includes a Presidential New Member Letter as well as information about different opportunities within the organization that the new member may find interesting.
Additionally, an email will be sent to both the Club President and the Club Secretary containing several important attachments: the Optimist Creed, the Purposes of Optimist International, our Core Value Statement, and a personalized Member Certificate for the new member. The Member Certificate will be formatted for printing on an 8.5 x 11-inch certificate paper and will include the new memberโs name.
Clubs will also have the opportunity to order New Member pins from Optimist International. The order form can be found on HERE.
