Welcome back to another “The Governor’s 3 Under 3” here, this week Governor Sean Mueller highlights the following:

Winter District Gathering – A Time for Connection, Learning, and Optimism

We’re thrilled to invite all Optimists to the Winter District Zoom Gathering this Saturday, February 8th! The theme for this quarter is “Optimists Bring Out the Best in Our COMMUNITIES,” and we can’t wait to bring together Optimists from all across the district for a morning full of energy, collaboration, and community spirit.

Event Details: The event kicks off at 8:30 AM with a casual and welcoming atmosphere—music, coffee, and plenty of opportunities to connect. So grab your favorite drink, get comfortable, and wear your Optimist Club gear to show your commitment to making a difference in your community. Whether you’re tuning in from home or the office, this is your chance to start the day on a positive note.

At 9:00 AM, we’ll jump into the Business Session where we’ll provide important updates and announcements from both the district and Optimist International. This is your chance to hear about the latest initiatives, opportunities, and upcoming events where you can get involved.

Exciting Sessions and Fun Activities: After the Business Session, we’re excited to host a Virtual Trivia session! This is not just a fun way to test your knowledge but also a chance to support the OI Foundation as we fundraise together. So, get ready to learn something new and enjoy a few laughs with fellow Optimists.

Following trivia, we’ll dive into Brainstorming Sessions, where you can explore key Optimist International initiatives. Here’s a sneak peek at what we have planned:

  • JOI Club Development
  • Essay Tutorial – Club Level
  • Oratorical Tutorial – Club Level
  • SS Optimism/Membership Engagement
  • OWLS (Optimists Working for Learning Success)
  • Junior Golf

These sessions are designed to empower you with knowledge, ideas, and strategies to strengthen the work of Optimist Clubs everywhere.

The gathering will wrap up with a special meeting for the Michigan Optimist Leadership Academy (MIOLA), an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in leadership development within our Optimist community.

Supporting Local Optimist Club Scholarships: In addition to the gathering, we want to spotlight an important initiative that impacts students in our communities. Optimist Clubs provide scholarships each year to deserving students, and we need your help promoting them! If your club offers scholarships, we encourage you to share the details on the Michigan District website. It’s easy: just email the following information to governor@michiganoptimists.org:

  • Name of Scholarship
  • Club Name
  • Demographic information
  • Scholarship amount and deadline
  • Link to the application (if available)

By spreading the word about these scholarships, you’re opening doors for students to chase their dreams and build bright futures. Let’s inspire the next generation of leaders, engineers, teachers, and artists!

Optimist Day – A Day to Celebrate Optimism: Finally, Optimist Day is fast approaching! This special day honors the incredible work of Optimist Clubs and their members who, year-round, bring out the best in others. Whether through mentorship programs, local events, or small acts of kindness, Optimists are changing lives every day by spreading positivity and hope.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Optimism by wearing your Optimist gear, participating in local events, and diving into the Optimist Creed. Show the world how Optimism can make a difference. We’d love to see how your club is celebrating—send your photos to communications@michiganoptimists.org and let’s share the joy of Optimism with the world!

Let’s Build a Brighter Future – Together! We are so excited about the Winter District Gathering, and we can’t wait to see you there. Let’s unite, learn, and continue to Bring Out the Best in our COMMUNITIES. Together, we make a difference!

Stay tuned for updates and changes to the schedule as we get closer to the event. See you Saturday, February 8th!
