The Optimist Club of Central Detroit continued its long-standing tradition of bringing joy and excitement to local youth this holiday season with its Annual Day After Christmas Skating Party. Held at the Northland Skating Rink in Detroit, Michigan, the event provided a fun-filled day for 67 young attendees, combining the thrill of ice skating with the excitement of a special raffle and festive treats.
On December 26, the club opened the doors of Northland Skating Rink to local youth, offering them a memorable day of free admission, skate rentals, and snacks. The Optimist Club members worked hard to ensure the event was a success, creating an atmosphere of fun, community spirit, and holiday cheer. The event was free for the youth, emphasizing the Club’s commitment to supporting young people in the Detroit area.
One of the highlights of the event was the raffle, which featured eight exciting sets of bikes and helmets—an ideal way to encourage outdoor activity and healthy lifestyles. The lucky winners were thrilled to take home their new bikes, with helmets to ensure safe riding. The raffle brought even more excitement to an already enjoyable event, spreading smiles all around.
In addition to the young attendees, several officers and members of the Optimist Club of Central Detroit were present to help facilitate the day’s activities. The group took time to connect with the youth, reinforcing the Club’s mission of promoting optimism, youth development, and community engagement.
The Optimist Club of Central Detroit is proud to continue its tradition of giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season.
