Dear Michigan Optimists,
As we enter the final quarter of my term as your District Governor, I am focused on a singular, historic opportunity: ending this year with positive membership growth for the first time in over a decade. This goal is within our reach, but it requires the collective dedication of every club, every member, and our entire district leadership team to “Bee the Difference” in our communities.
The “+1” Growth Challenge
I am asking every club in the Michigan District to strive for a net gain of +1 or better in membership growth during Q4. Success is defined simply: if your club’s roster on September 30 is larger than it was on June 30, you have directly contributed to bringing the Michigan District back into a healthy balance.
Even if your club has faced negative growth during the first three quarters, a strong Q4 can reverse that trend and set a foundation for future success.
Incentives and Recognition
To support these efforts, the District continues to offer a $50 rebate for every new member recruited during the 2025–2026 year. By meeting these growth targets, the Michigan District is positioned to be recognized as an Honor District for the 2025–2026 year. Furthermore, if we can successfully charter new clubs before October 1, we have a clear pathway to becoming a Distinguished District. Many of our clubs are already on track to reach Merit or Honor status, and we look forward to celebrating these achievements.
4th Quarter Summit at Interlochen
We will gather to celebrate our hard work at the 4Q Summit, held at the beautiful Interlochen Center for the Arts from August 28–30, 2026. This marks a long-awaited return to the “north woods” of our district, providing a unique environment for fellowship and reflection on our 2025–2026 accomplishments.
This summit will not only be a time for recognition but also a vital preparation period for the 2026–2027 year. I encourage all members to partake in this experience as we strengthen our commitment to the youth and communities of Michigan.
Together, let us finish this year strong and ensure a vibrant future for the Michigan District Optimists.
Yours in Optimism,
