Mecosta County Optimist Club Helps St. Michael’s School Upgrade Library System

by | Jan 29, 2025 | Club News

The Mecosta County Optimist Club is once again making a difference in the community, this time with a generous donation to St. Michael’s School in Remus. The $750 contribution will fund a much-needed upgrade to the school’s electronic library system, ensuring that students and staff will have access to a modern, efficient tool for checking out books. This upgrade will replace the previous system, which unfortunately became corrupted after an update, leaving the school to resort to old-fashioned pencil-and-paper checkout procedures.

Principal Karen Gostomski shared the challenges the school has faced since the malfunction. “Something happened through the update, and the system became corrupted this year,” she explained. As a result, checking out books became a time-consuming and inefficient process, making it difficult for both students and staff.

Thanks to the support of the Mecosta County Optimist Club, St. Michael’s will soon be back on track with an updated, fully functional system that will streamline the book checkout process. The donation is just one example of how the Optimist Club continues to support local educational initiatives and improve the quality of life for residents in Mecosta County.

This thoughtful donation by the Optimist Club highlights the importance of community involvement in helping local schools overcome challenges and maintain the resources needed to support student learning.
