We are proud to announce the top three winners of the 2024–2025 Michigan District Oratorical Contest, during the Spring District Gathering, held on May 17 at Saginaw Valley State University. These outstanding students rose to the top from a pool of over 100 entrants, each delivering compelling, articulate, and passionate speeches that impressed both the judges and the audience.
- Abigail Woodruff, 1st Place – Royal Oak, Michigan
- Anika Pai, 2nd Place – Big Rapids, Michigan
- Isham Kumar, 3rd Place – Grand Blanc, Michigan
The scholarships were funded by optimist members Karen and Dana Monville. This scholarship is more than just a prize—it’s a recognition of young leaders who are unafraid to speak, inspire, and lead. As Karen and Dana Monville shared, “It is such a pleasure to once again have a say in the future leaders of our country.”
Abigail Woodruff, this year’s first-place winner, will now advance to the International World Oratorical Contest – Region Level for an additional $20,000 scholarship opportunity, continuing her journey as a voice for her generation.
